Our work here at Tipperary Rape Crisis Centre is to provide support and services to survivors of Sexual Trauma, Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence. We support women, men and children. Unfortunately, sexual abuse happens to far more children than most people ever believe - or want to believe. Many of our clients present having suffered historical child abuse. In fact, around 65% of women who contact Rape Crisis Centres are adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I thought my life was over until my friend handed me a piece of paper with a number that changed my life. I thought i couldn’t go on, move forward from what had happened to me. I thought nobody would understand. Tipperary Rape Crisis Centre has given me hope, a new outlook and now I am better and stronger for making that call. I have received great support from this service and continue to receive it. I got great encouragement from my counsellor and my future seems bright for the first time and I didn’t do it on my own. Some days I feel a lot of grief and sadness but of that I grow into the person I want to be, happy.

Services we provide

The Tipperary Rape Crisis and Counselling Centre, established in 1986. As a centre for women, men and children to find support and refuge after they experience a sexual trauma.



Getting Help

We offer a Confidential Helpline during opening hours. 1800 340 340 The aim of Tipperary Rape Crisis & Counselling Centre is to offer support to anyone who has experienced any form of sexual violence. It can be recent or some years ago or in childhood. The 24 hour national helpline number is; 1800 77 8888



Counselling

Counselling is free and completely confidential. We are here to help and support you in the process of healing and recovery. Tipperary Rape Crisis & Counselling Centre provides free, confidential counselling to survivors of Rape and Child Sexual Abuse (male & female) their families, friends, or anyone affected by sexual violence. Under 18yrs with parental or professional referral.



Training and Education

Tipperary Rape Crisis Centre train professionals and volunteers and also run education programmes for students. Sexual violence education and awareness talks are offered to Post Primary Schools (Transition Year Students and above) covering Sexual Violence and other related topics.
